I decided to cover the barrel with cob. I didn't really like the black barrel aesthetic. I've been burning it to release the water... I don't want the cob to rust out the metal. Of course, I've kept the top metal open for cooking and quick heat.
I think it's more ergonomic. This way when you touch your skin to the side it doesn't melt your skin off!
